What is the Nichi Bei Foundation?
Through our publication of a weekly newspaper, the Nichi Bei Weekly, for Japanese Americans and the larger Asian American community, the Nichi Bei Foundation which publishes the Nichi Bei Weekly, will serve as a vital link to keep our community connected, informed and empowered — even as we continue to spread ourselves throughout the country and the world.
Our Mission
Our mission is to be an active part of the community by sponsoring events and fundraisers that will promote and preserve our cultural and historical heritage. We plan to create, develop and provide the community with educational and charitable programs — including the Northern California Tofu Festival — that will be a benefit to us all.
And much more than words on newsprint, the Nichi Bei Foundation wants to continue its vision of strengthening the ties that bind Nikkei together.

Every little bit helps. Even if you are not a member but wish to keep our community connected, informed and empowered we kindly accept monetary donations no matter how large or small. Your donation helps us to stay on path with our mission and for you to become a part of our grassroots movement.
Your donation is crucial to us in our startup phase as a nonprofit. Your contribution to the Nichi Bei Foundation is an investment in community media. The Nichi Bei Foundation is in the process of applying for tax-exemption which, if granted, will be retroactive to the date of formation. We will inform donors when and if the IRS grants 501(c)(3) status to the Nichi Bei Foundation.7

The Nichi Bei Foundation is a sponsored project of Community Initiatives, which is an exempt organization as defined in Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and, accordingly, your gift is deductible to the full extent permitted by law.
